Energy Storage RFP – ANNOUNCEMENT: Summer 2026 Initial Procurement Scheduled

On January 8, 2026, the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act (“CRGA”, P.A. 104-0458) was signed into law. Pursuant to the CRGA, the Illinois Power Agency (“IPA”) will conduct an initial procurement of energy storage system resources.

The target for this procurement is 1,038 megawatts (MW) of standalone storage, with 450 megawatts interconnected within MISO Local Resource Zone 4 (“MISO LRZ 4”) and 588 megawatts interconnected within the PJM ComEd Locational Deliverability Area (“ComEd LDA”).

The schedule for the Summer 2026 Energy Storage RFP is posted to the Calendar page of the procurement website. Bidders may begin submitting qualification materials for projects in July and bids will be due on August 26, 2026.
